Join Lisa Redisch, Rabbi Shmuel, Maharat Ruth, and our energetic Shorashim staff on Thursday afternoons as we strengthen our children's knowledge and connection with Jewish learning in a fun and engaging environment. Be a part of our after-school enrichment program, now in its 6th year.

Does Judaism believe in the afterlife? Unequivocally, the answer is yes! However, today many are unaware of traditional Jewish wisdom on life after death. This presentation explores Judaism’s afterlife teachings, particularly in Jewish mysticism. We shall discover the connection between Jewish afterlife teachings and the cycle of Jewish death rituals, and endeavor to understand the relevant applications and implications of these teachings for the contemporary Hevra Kaddisha,and for supporting those dealing with bereavement.

Incorporating movement and dance can help girls express their feelings while developing confidence and a sense of community. Caryn Malkus, MA, LGMFT, will lead this fantastic cohort through a fun, unpressured, safe, and upbeat dance lesson, while using the opportunity to talk through some confidence-building exercises and how to grow supportive friendships.

Rabbi Joseph Friedman, educated at Yeshivat Chofetz Chaim, Baltimore, Maryland and at Yeshiva University, combines his Judaic training with a Juris Doctor degree in law. He has over 20 years of legal experience, including positions as an Appellate Attorney for the United States and as a trial lawyer in private practice.

As the Israeli-Palestinian conflict persists, a growing movement of grassroots activists continues its work to build relationships across communal divides. Join us for an evening of candid and inspiring conversation with Israeli and Palestinian who will speak to the successes and challenges they face in their work building bridges between divided communities. Children 2nd-5th grade are invited to attend a special workshop on building relationships during the panel.
